This worked for me but by this procedure:

I checked Settings/Phone/Announce calls.

"Always" was already ticked.

I ticked "Never" then Back Arrow to exit.

I then selected Announce Calls again and ticked "Always"

After backing out this time my phone ring tone rang out normally.

Much like some of the other users in this thread, I’ve been experiencing the same issue. As far as the announcement calls option is concerned, it was set to Never and it always has been. I’ve never had a need for calls to be announced. They would just ring. Today my dad called while I was watching something, and there was no ringtone. I saw his call coming through via the banner at the top of the screen earlier this evening, my wife says she called twice, but my phone never rang. My silent switch is set to ring, and she’s also set up with Emergency Bypass which is on. This has happened a few times with several different contacts since this update has occurred.

Using an iPhone 16 Pro Max running iOS 26.0.1.

Maybe late to this, as I just experienced it just weeks ago and just on messages on emergency bypass - never on announced calls. What I noticed is when I went to that specific contact’s message - when you click the name - you’ll see INFO - then SCROLL DOWN - for some reason the HIDE ALERTSS is ON - so toggle OFF and works fine now. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Found a Solution!

None of the above suggestions above worked for me, unfortunately. My issue with my iPhone not ringing was after I got my new iPhone 17 pro max this past month and I had my phone number added to my alternate phone during the limbo period of me not having a phone.

I had Verizon switch my number to my new phone but when I went o that alternate phone I found that the ESIM for my phone number was still on that phone!! I deleted the ESIM and now my phone is ringing out loud again!

I hope this helps identify the potential problem for some people 🙏🏼

No offense, Biff, but this would only apply under the presumption that common sense is being used. It's almost like saying Apple charging cords should work for a reasonable amount of time before requiring replacement. lol. Wild thought, right?

You're responding to a post that's over two months old.
