Request to Reactivate Replaced AirPods Pro 2 Serial Number

Hello,

I purchased AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C) recently. They work fine and are genuine, but I have discovered an issue with the serial number:

  • When I check coverage, it says “This device is being repaired”

  • Firmware updates are not installing (still on 6B34)

  • The device is visible in Find My and works normally.

  • The device resets ALL settings (name of device, noise control, etc.)

I am requesting:

  • Reactivation of the serial number so that my AirPods receive firmware updates.

  • An explanation of why this product still shows as “being repaired” and what steps are needed to restore it to active status.

If your serial shows a repair status and they don’t update, you most likely have fake AirPods.

That would be my concern as well. Not being able to update the firmware is a tell-tale sign, and many fake AirPods will still show in FindMy and can be reset. Without knowing if they were purchased at Apple or Authorized Apple Seller, that really cannot be determined.

I did not post earlier because the recommendation by Niel to contact Apple for assistance is still the correct approach and it would be at that time they would be able to determine if they are actually authentic.
