“My iPhone and iPad are Activation Locked, and I am the original owner with proof of purchase and serial/IMEI numbers.”

My name is Afaq. My iPhone and iPad devices are currently locked due to Activation Lock. Both devices were purchased officially, and I have the original purchase receipts showing the serial and IMEI numbers. Unfortunately, someone gained unauthorized access to the Apple ID that was used to activate the devices, changed the password, and is now demanding money to return access.

Here are the details of my devices:

  • Device 1: iPad Pro 13-inch (M4) Wi-Fi, 512GB, Silver
    • Model: A2925
    • Serial Number: C6*****D3
    • Purchase Date: 16/09/2025
    • Purchased at: iAccessories Baku, Başir Səfəroğlu küçəsi 219 m5, Azerbaijan

  • Device 2: iPhone 16 Plus, 256GB, Pink
    • Model: A3290
    • Serial Number: M0****2M
    • IMEI1: 3546******71
    • IMEI2: 3546********44

Attached are the following documents for verification:

  • Original purchase receipts,
  • Photos of the device boxes showing serial and IMEI numbers,
  • A copy of my ID card (if required).

I kindly request your assistance in removing the Activation Lock on both devices, as I am the legitimate owner. Please let me know if any additional documentation is required.

Thank you very much for your help and support.

Sincerely,

Afaq

Officially according to Apple, or just to you?

Refer to How to remove Activation Lock - Apple Support There are only two ways to remove a lock.:

#1 If you have the necessary information you can do this yourself by simply signing in with the owner account and password information. If you do not have that then you can try method 2 —>

#2 Apple can completely reset a device if a person can provide sufficient evidence of valid ownership. Read the requirements and steps for an Activation Lock support request at: https://al-support.apple.com/#/additional-support Apple says you need to have "proof of purchase documentation” and “proof of ownership documentation”, but does not detail what currently constitutes proof other than it “must include the product serial number, IMEI or MEID.” User reports on this community indicate that typically Apple will ONLY accept an original receipt issued by Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller. Presumably this is the only kind Apple can authenticate against fraud since Apple is not involved in third party sales. Apple recommends that you "Keep your receipt after you buy an Apple device" --> Keep your receipt after you buy an Apple device - Apple Support

Note that the device cannot have Lost Mode set on it. If your device has been taken over by you having entered a scammer’s Account then the scammer may have set that too and the device is lost to you.

If Apple resets the device this will give you access to the device but won't restore access to the account used to lock it. There is nothing that can be done to expedite an Activation Lock request.
