unable to access gmail which is covered by a google banner at login

MacBook with OS 10.10.5.

This computer is being used in France, and dialogue is in French.

We have lost access to gmail. At login, the inbox appears for 2-3 seconds and is then covered by a document which has a banner which states:

"Gagnez en productivité graçe au fonctionalités intelligentes dans Google workspace"

We are unable to remove the document having spent several hours trying to do so, thus we are unable to access emails. Surfing the net is no problem

HELP!!!

Regards,

Nigel

macOS 10.10.5 is extremely old for access to the Internet. Safari is not an option, nor are most third party browsers. You need to find a third party browser that is compatible with Yosemite. Good luck with that since most browsers which were backported to older versions of macOS are no longer supported.

What is the exact model of your Mac? You can get this information by clicking the Apple menu & selecting "About This Mac".

You can certainly upgrade macOS on that device to at least 10.11 although that won't help very much, but it is possible depending on the exact model that it may be able to be upgraded to 10.13 or possibly even higher. You can try checking Software Update to see what newer versions of macOS may be available, although sometimes macOS may not always display the correct information. Even with a higher version of macOS you still may still encounter issues since most third party browser even barely support 10.15 these days.
