Since upgrading to Tahoe, I notice it seems i'm getting extra mouse clicks. E.g., words selecting suddenly, or checkboxes gettign checked / unchecked quickly on a single mouse click.
Its hard to characterize but something changed. I use an external mouse & keyboard. Prior to updating, I didnt notice any behavior like this.
Anyone else seeing similar?

Have you uninstalled the third-party mouse software to check if the HID-standards compliant mouse functions as expected. A standards compliant mouse without any additional software should be able to click, secondary click, and scroll. Any other buttons/functions would not be supported. If it works correctly without the software installed, the problem is with the third-party system modification that provides the extra features the mouse may have.
My HID-compliant "non-Apple" mouse does not show any of the issues you describe.
I have now, the double click sensitivity. It’s not consistent though so I can’t say that’s done anything yet.
Tahoe just seems a little quirky overall. A couple good ideas too, but it definitely doesn’t treat external devices as well.
and the update from 26.0 -> 26.0.1 failed , had to revive it at an Apple Store. Maybe 26.0.2 will be better.
Thanks for the reply. I have Logitech Options+ (1.98.804269) installed with an overview of all my Logitech peripherals. Options+ is up to date. It tells me all the mouse and keyboard firmware is up to date.
But this problem is not exclusive to Bluetooth devices. It also happens with older Apple USB mice cabled via the multi port (Cougar DS 10 Docking Station).
The 'no click' issue is particularly bad in Finder. I can navigate to folders, but cannot open any files. The only way in is via the spacebar. Same with Calendar and spreadsheets.
It's now impossible to place a cursor into a data field and revise text. I have to delete and re-enter a revised version.
Plenty of work to do, so off to Apple Store tomorrow to get back on track.
Sorry, I don’t know what else to try. I cannot replicate the issue on two Macs running Tahoe. The only third-party mouse I use is a TECKNET BT/Wireless. Works without issue on both BT and with their wireless dongle.

No worries, I appreciate checking different machines. My particular mouse is an corsair M65 pro rgb. Haven't really had a problem with it until recently. I don't think I have this issue on other OSes with this mouse, but I spend most of my time on this Mac.
It's bearable but really annoying at times. Like just now I clicked Helpful on your post, and it did two clicks, so Not Helpful might've be clicked as well; ugh, sorry.

FWIW, I think certain third-party mice can be double triggered. Just conjecture.

Not being able to update to 26.0.1 is troubling.
true, but no I didn't use Time Machine (never have, actually); lost everything on it, but most work was recoverable. And sometimes it's good to start fresh once in awhile.
If you used the Time Machine backup to restore your user data then there could be damaged/corrupted system or application temp swap files restored. If you didn't use TM to restore your user data then you're right.
