Can't Erase MacBook Pro due to Find My Issue

I am trying to erase all content from my MacBook Pro M1 2020. For context: I changed my Apple ID email a few months ago.

I bought a new MacBook Air 2025 M4 and am now trying to erase the content on my MacBook Pro and when I go to erase it, it says that I need to enter my Apple ID password to disable Find My on my laptop, however it is asking me to enter the password from my old Apple ID email address (which is the same account as my current Apple ID, just a new email). It keeps saying the password is incorrect.

I have tried my current password and it does not work.

I have tried resetting my password for the old Apple ID email and it says invalid Apple ID as the email is my new email address, and no Apple ID exists with my old email address.

Please help!

I would not be changing passwords willy nilly if you know your psswds are correct— that is not the issue.

You can try logging in direct to iCloud and try there...

https://www.icloud.com/ this would be your AppleID/Account passwd.

You can remove it there from the list of your Devices—
