I want to sign out of my MacbookPro (resetting the laptop)

I purchased a new Macbook and trying to delete the old one after transfering all data to the new one. While deleting it, its asking for a password for "find my". However the email/account showing hasnt been used in a long time and hasnt been linked to in the near past. The old account wasn't even active anymore on apple.com/icloud.com.

Even reopening a new account with that specific email did not work. When entering the password, the following error message shows up: (null)_generic_error_mac_text

I am somewhat lost at what I can do to proceed?

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 14.6

For a generic, numeric, or unknown "error" messages I suggest you contact Apple.

Refer to this page for Apple Support features ➔ Contact - Official Apple Support

Select from the presented options until you find a solution for your issue, or see if there is a chat or phone call contact method offered lower on the page (you sometimes have to narrow down the options multiple times before this is shown). If you do not see your issue, keep experimenting with any series of selections until you reach one that offers a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.
