MacBook Pro Keyboard and Trackpad Not Working

I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro and the keyboard and trackpad suddenly stopped working last night. It was perfectly fine and I didn't drop or damage it at all, the only thing I can think of that may have caused an issue is the updates/upgrades I did. There was a software upgrade to do Tahoe 26 and I let it do its thing but when it restarted and came back on the screen is weird looking and doesn't fit the page, its condensed into a smaller square and my keyboard and mouse wont work. The weird part is that I can use the power button on the keyboard and if I do a reset option I can move my mouse on the boot menu but that's all. I have done several power resets and tried to plug in an external mouse and keyboard which didn't work, I have tried all the other resets recommended (SMC, etc.). Nothing seems to help at all, anyone have any other suggestions or is my laptop just dead and gone now?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 15.7

I have a mid 2014 MacBook Pro ...

A 2014 Macbook Pro cannot run Tahoe. It is hardware-contrained to running not higher macod than OS 11 "Big Sur." Can you confirm your Mac's sub-model for us?

Any sudden change in trackpad and/or keyboard behavior can be due to a swollen battery. Some "check at home" items:

— Unexpected trackpad and/or keyboard inputs.

— The gap between the display and the deck is not even when the display is closed.

— The gap between the bottom plate and chassis is uneven in places.

— Some of the screws that hold the bottom plate are loose or have popped out.

— The trackpad surface is higher than the surrounding deck surface.

— The computer "rocks" a bit on a known flat surface†.

† — I find solid-surface and granite countertops very effective flat test surfaces.

If you find ANY of these, seek Apple service immediately. Swelling can increase dramatically even overnight and can cause irreparable damage to the metal chassis and logic board.

Sonuvagun! 11,1 is a MacBook Pro 13-inch Mid-2014 Macbook Pro. I saw one other post late last week where a user was offered Tahoe on a non-supported model. This sounds like a bug.

Do you have a current backup of your data? If so, you can use Recovery to reinstall the OS. OS reinstall options are managed by the key combos you use to invoke recovery, shown here:
