For the 2nd time in 3 days my computer has been pulled off the desk by the USB-C charging cord. It ALWAYS ruins the cord (at $25+ a pop), damages the port, and damages the computer.
How was apple technology better 20 years ago than it is now?
I will likely end my almost 50 year streak of owning Macs when it's time to buy my next computer because of this.

Thanks for the updated info and I did find the MacTracker database helpful. The MagSafe port was first included in 2006, but as you said there was a drought in the middle with the Intel/USB-C models and the specific Silicon models you identified.
So for the OP looking for a new computer, every MacBook computer since 2023 has included MagSafe charging. And for the question of: When will Apple fix the USB-C Charging that Breaks computers by pulling them off desks?, they already did by including the MagSafe port that should be used instead.

Why not use MagSafe charging? Not sure which year of MacBook Pro you have, but it has been an option for many years. The computer can be charged with either port and when using the MagSafe port, the cable simply becomes unconnected without even moving the computer. Also, no cord or port damage.

I think it has been on option on the MacBook Pro for 19 years, coming out in 2006, but feel free to correct me if I am wrong. That is the whole purpose of using MagSafe to prevent cord, port, computer damage when the cord gets yanked. USB-C is still there for compatibility, but you do not have to use it if you prefer the protections offered with MagSafe.

MacTracker's database indicates that no Intel-based Mac notebooks with USB-C ports had MagSafe ports. Once USB-C ports appeared, MagSafe ports went away. Charging was through USB-C only.

" When will Apple..." questions are 100% lost here. We are your fellow end users with no power to effect change in Apple's policies or systems, nor special access to their thinking and plans. They do not respond here.
The use of the USB-C charging seems to have startedi in 2016 and persisted until the 2021 M1 Pro and Max 14-and 16-inch models. They have a MagSafe 2 3 connector as do subsequent models.
So there is no relief for you in these user-to-user forums. You can contact Apple using:
a) this feedback link: Feedback - MacBook Pro - Apple that is unlikely to generate a response, or,
b) this:
The forums are not part of Apple's complaint procedure.
Can you not simply route the cable so it won't get in the way of being pulled? Or maybe invest in a longer USB-C cable.
That would only happen if you tug on the cable. Don't do that.
