iPhone stops charging due to heat but is not hot at all.

Hello everyone,

I just got my 17 Pro Max yesterday and am facing charging issues. I managed to get a full charge yesterday but its just stopping at 80% today. It keeps saying that the phone has paused charging due to high temperatures. Touching the phone and cable seems very normal, nothing warm to the touch. Is anyone facing the same issue? I'll try to unplug it and plug it back again it'll show that its charging for a few minutes and then it pauses again.

Anyway to go around this? Or is this a known issue? It's my first iPhone as I am crossing over from Android and this seems pretty sad. Can someone help me please? Thank you.

That is a feature of fast charging to put it on hold when it reaches about 80%, and will then proceed to charge slower to protect your battery after a waiting period. The message you see is just telling you what it is doing, it does not mean there is a problem with your phone or it should only happen when your phone feels hot. The iPhone 17 charges much faster than previous phones and continuing to charge at that rate all the way to 100% could have a detrimental effect on the battery, as fast charging does increase the temperature of the battery, whether you feel it on the device or not.
