Charging MacBook Pro with M3 Pro chip with Macbook Air M2 Chip 70 W charger?

Can the official support team please comment if it is safe to charge the Macbook Pro with Macbook Air's 70 W charger? Its a lot of hassle and space to keep both plugged in. Thanks!

No official from Apple will be replying here since Apple does not participate in these forums....we are just other regular users such as yourself. If you want Apple's official response, then you will need to open a support ticket with them.

For a comment from a regular user who supports & repairs Apple products for my organization, It is safe to use the power adapter. If that power adapter is smaller than the one for the other laptop, then you may see the battery drain while a smaller power adapter is being used as it will charge the laptop more slowly. I always get the larger Apple OEM power adapters so that they can be used with any other Apple devices without having to worry about it supplying enough power.

Yes it is safe.

The macOS manages charging, there is no issue.

The rule of thumb—if you are near the mains leave it plugged in, if you need the portability then run on the battery only—this is how you help optimize your battery charging and extend the working life of your battery by reducing the cycle count.
