Wondering if Mercedes has a firmware update available to keep their display system compatible with iOS 26.
Eg: You may find info. on firmware updates in the Car Manual, or the manufacturer's support website,
or maybe from the car-dealer's support team.

You may want to check for firmware updates in the Mercedes infotainment system : Settings > Updates. Many car manufacturers make firmware updates for the stereo system available regularly, to ensure compatibility with iPhone etc.
Else: The more feedback Apple receives on which hardware models and software versions are affected, the more likely we will see an update.

Have you tried disabling Smart Display settings under the settings app in Apple CarPlay on the car itself?
interesting, tried my dad's iPhone 16 with ios26, it worked. so brief summary:

Thank you kindly for your reply. You may want to try updating to iOS 26.0.1. Seems there were bug-fixes etc.
If you wish: You can send feedback to reach those who work on the software behind-the-scenes at Apple. They will likely not reply, yet they do carefully read, and log, all feedback, and if others have a similar issue, we may see an update that addresses it.

My partner has a iPhone 17 with iOS 26.0.1 that won’t sync up Car Play correctly in our 2018 GLC Mercedes. The phone calls and messages displays are messed up too. Also google maps.
I see in the comments that the iPhone 16 with ios26 works. Mine is the basic 16… I think it’s an E….We can’t lose Waze completely so I’m waiting until apple fixes the 17 bug.

probably not. mercedes app tells me last update was a couple years ago. I think the best bet is still apple realizing this and fix this in future ios26 releases

I have the same problem. I had zero issues with iPhone 13 Pro but iPhone 17 pro max isn’t working on GLC. Tried both wired and wireless, including official apple cable. When will this be fixed ?
