iOS 26 lag and overheating issues on iPhone

Ever since updating to iOS 26.0, my iPhone has been lagging like crazy — app switching stutters, the whole system feels slower, and the phone even overheats sometimes. Apple says it’s just “indexing” and will settle after a few days, but it’s been over a week for me and nothing has changed.

I’ve already tried a bunch of stuff — turned on Reduce Transparency and Reduce Motion, updated to iOS 26.0.1, turned off Background App Refresh, and even kept my phone plugged in overnight for the past week so it could finish indexing or whatever. Still lagging and heating up tho

Have you contacted Apple Support and run remote diagnostics on your iPhone? I’ve got a 17 Pro Max and it’s running great. I know that doesn’t help you, but makes me think diagnostics might turn something up.

If you’re within the return period maybe return it or swap it for a different unit.
