Email not working after macOS Tahoe 26.0.1

Upgraded macOS Tahoe to 26.0.1 over a week ago. Mac is mac mini M4 (2025) with 512 GB. ALL has worked fine until yesterday (Oct 3, 2025) when 4 out of 5 iCloud email accounts refused to load. What do I do to get them back up and running? BTW 2 different iPads and 2 different iPhones and 2 different Apple watches are all fully upgraded and working fine.

Many Thanks,

Bob

Thanks to the community for this discussion. I have been at my wits end for two weeks trying to sort this out. The spell check setting to NEVER sorted it. I will also add that yesterday I finally spoke to an Apple Tech yesterday. She had me remove my OS system and reload - no change. The fact that this bug is out there and that 1) they do not have a formal online statement on how to work around surprises me and 2) the tech had no clue on this bug, she also consulted a supervisor. Apple needs to do better - these are the basics.

Sounds like I was having the same problem.

When I would hit send, it would get hung up and not send. After multiple calls to apple support a tech told me to go to settings/composing/check spelling: (I had, 'when I send' selected, but I was instructed to change it to 'never'). So far so good problem solved, but...

I asked how she knew about that fix and she said she recieved a 'work around' notice for this issue.

I'm a big Apple fan and am afraid they are really starting to faulter badly. Don't ge me started on the ****** AI debacle....

I have tried everything to sort this issue - reloading settings a few times too. BUT the only thing that works is turning spell checking to NEVER.

Or, put a deliberate spelling mistake in your email (I add an z to a simple word) and then after you correct it before sending (with spell check on sending ON) it sends!

Apple - please send out an update to sort this!

Not yet. I still have the 4 out of 5 accounts that refuse to load. But, and that's a big but, while working on the only one that loads right away one of the others loads and is again usable! Later, it went back to its unloaded state. Then, 10 minutes later it's back up again. All I have to say now is that macOS Tahoe 26.0.0 worked as advertised, and 26.0.1 the bug fix, turned out to be a bug creator!

BTW, I have submitted a "Feedback Assistant" description of the problem to Apple. I hope the Gurus in Apple get it really fixed ASAP. 'Steve' we miss you.
