Recovering lost data from an old iPhone to a new one

If you have an iCloud backup or a backup to your computer, you can restore from there. And to access data directly from the iPhone, it would need to be accessible, meaning functioning and unlocked. Otherwise if you lost your data, you won't be able to restore it anywhere.

If the data is backed up to iCloud or your computer (Finder on a Mac OR iTunes/Apple Devices on Windows), you can restore the last backup to a new device. If the data is not backed up in either manner, you can't restore what doesn't exist.
