When I select the small icon in chat window to select a sticker or gif, the lower input screen goes blank and WhatsApp freezes and requires restart.
this happens regardless of who I am messaging.
have restarted and reinstalled app. Restarted device with the above. With no other apps running also.
please help

Apparently after much frustrated searching on the web….. if you access settings>accessibility>motion>reduce motion and turn this off. The gifs will then start working. It did for me anyway. I have no idea why or how it is connected. But hopefully it works for you.
You will need to contact Meta for help with their software, this is not an Apple product.
Here are a couple of ways to contact them -
It is not an issue with the operating system. It is not up to Apple to diagnose and fix third party applications, it is up to the app developer to fix any issues with their software.
As Kilgore-Trout said, this is typical of Meta to place the blame on Apple, utter nonsense

I am having the same issue, I’ve deleted the application reinstalled it cleared the cachet and restarted the phone all several times and it’s still has not fixed the issue. Please help.
