Is metal dust plugs safe for iphone ? or should use a silicone plug or don’t use these at all.
Never used them in 18 years of owning iPhones. Never had an issue with dust or lint in a port or opening. Never used a case and always carry it in my back pocket. But if it makes you feel more protected then go for it. Silicon is probably a little safer. I’d be concerned about metal shavings getting places they aren’t supposed to be.
I use a silicone dust plug in the USB-C port of my 17 Pro and used on in my 15 the entire time I had it. Only removed it occasionally to remove the case to clean out dust or very very occasionally to connect to a computer. I pretty much always charge wirelessly so there's no need to expose it to dust or moisture.
I'm more comfortable with silicone because I don't want to risk damaging the contacts in the port.
