How to disable time, date, WiFi, battery icons when watching movie?

Hi - apologies if this has been asked and answered. All I could find was “reset your iPad” - which I did to no avail.

I’ve been watching movies etc. on my iPad Pro. In fullscreen mode, the icons in the top left and top right corners remain (see photo).

In daylight, that’s not too irritating. But when it’s dark, it’s really annoying.

Any suggestions - other than resetting - that might take care of this issue?
