Counting contacts in Contacts app

How do I discover how many contacts are stored in my contacts app?

The easiest way:


Open Contacts

Click All Contacts in the Sidebar

Click on any Contact

Type Command-A (Select All)


The main Contacts window will tell you how many contacts are selected.


The same can be used for any group - selecting the group, then selecting anyone in that group (to set focus to the list of contacts), followed by Command-A will show you how many contacts are selected.
