Warranty repairs may be limited but yes, Apple Stores and Authorized Apple Service Providers can repair iPhones in Italy. iphone 17 models sold in the US are limited to 2 eSIMs so, you’ll want to check with your cellular service provider to insure they support eSIMs.

Yes, Apple has multiple Apple Retail Stores in Italy and there are many Authorized Apple Service Providers in Italy. Apple ASSP’s have the right to refuse repairs on out of country or region devices. This could be for several reasons including inability to acquire parts or service staff isn’t trained on your particular model. In such a case, you would be referred to Apple Support for service.

The answer is "maybe".

There is no guarantee that you will be able to have it serviced either in or out of warrantee outside of the country/region where it was originally sold.

If you live in Italy, the smartest move is to buy the device from Apple or an authorized retailer in Italy.

So, out-of-warranty battery availability... is there one in Italy? Are the costs the same?

Apple stores in Italy won't necessarily carry parts which are for iPhone's sold in the US. If you don't live in the US, you should NOT buy your phone in the US. The model sold in the US is NOT the same as the model sold in Italy. Since Apple "may" limit warranty support to the country of purchase, are you prepared to bring the phone back to US if you need a repair or warranty support?

It is NEVER advisable to purchase your iPhone in a country you don't live and will use it.

From Apple directly, the model number for an iPhone 17 purchased in the US, is NOT the same as one purchased in Italy:

Model numbers: A3258 (United States, Puerto Rico), A3519 (Bahrain, Canada, Guam, Japan, Kuwait, Mexico, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and U.S. Virgin Islands), A3521 (China mainland), A3520 (other countries and regions)
