iPhone 16 Pro Max won’t take photos consistantly

I have an issue with either not being able to zoom in or take photos with the camera. Sometimes if I rotate the phone back and forth it will then take a photo. I talked to Apple and they said that if you activate the action button then only that button will take the photo. I deactivated the button and that made no difference. I have missed so many photo opportunities, does anyone have a fix for this? Thanks!

Did you already try to force restart the iPhone and see if you can take photos after that?

In case this does not work, reset the phone to factory settings, without using the latest backup, setting it up as a new device.

Then try again to use the camera. If it works as expected, restore from the latest backup and test again.

If the issue comes back, the backup contains corrupt data and can't be used anymore, and you will have to set

it back again to factory settings and set it up manually.
