Screen Unknown Callers - Ask Reason for Calling

Hi everyone,

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 26.0.1. I’d like to use the “Ask Reason for Calling” feature, but this option does not appear under Settings > Phone > Screen Unknown Callers.

Here’s what I’ve already checked:

  1. My iPhone is fully updated to iOS 26.0.1.
  2. I restarted the phone several times.
  3. My region and language settings are correct (Brazil / Portuguese – Brazil).
  4. The “Screen Unknown Callers” button appears, but there are no options like “Ask Reason for Calling”.

I know this feature is available in Brazil.

Anyone with the same problem?

Thanks in advance!

✽ Wondering if you have you tried checking whether Call Screening is supported by your carrier.

✽ You might want t check whether all unknown callers are already blocked

✽ If not already turned on: Wondering if turning on call idetification first may help ?

Apple support's online article: Screen and block calls on iPhone - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"Turn on call identification

iPhone can help identify incoming calls using information from Apple Business Connect, supported carriers, and supported call identification apps.

  1. Go to the Settings app  on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Apps, tap Phone, then tap Call Blocking & Identification.
  3. Turn on one or more of the following:
    • Business Call Identification: Caller information is identified by Apple Business Connect or your carrier.
    • Call Identification apps: Caller information is identified by supported caller ID apps.

Re: "The “Screen Unknown Callers” button appears, but there are no options like “Ask Reason for Calling”.

A possibility: If you've previously chosen an option like "Never" or "Silence" (perhaps by accident) may be that needs to be turned off first.

Above linked article also says:

  1. "Go to the Settings app  on your iPhone.
  2. Tap Apps, then tap Phone.
  3. Choose one of the following:
    • Never: Call Screening is turned off and your iPhone will ring when you receive a call from an unsaved number.
    • Ask Reason for Calling: Calls from unknown numbers will be asked for more information before iPhone rings.
    • Silence: Calls from unsaved numbers will be silenced, sent to voicemail, and appear in the Recents list.

Note: When answering calls, Siri will speak in your iPhone’s default language. See Change the language and region on iPhone."
