Ah, it sounds like you’re encountering an Activation Lock issue on your MacBook after trying to reset it. The activation lock is part of Apple's Find My Mac feature, which is designed to prevent unauthorized access if the device is ever lost or stolen. Since your Mac was bought second-hand, it's possible that the previous owner did not fully sign out of iCloud or remove the device from their account before selling it. Contact the Previous Owner. If you bought the MacBook second-hand, the simplest solution is to contact the seller (if you have their contact info). They need to remove the device from their iCloud account. Here's how they can do that:

  • Have them log in to iCloud.com using their Apple ID credentials.
  • Go to Find My iPhone (or Find My in the iCloud menu).
  • Select All Devices, then choose the MacBook.
  • Click Remove from Account or Erase Mac, then confirm.

Once they’ve done this, the activation lock should be removed, and you should be able to reset the Mac and sign in with your own Apple ID.
