I have an iPhone 12 and 2020 Macbook Air, I want to have my iMessages available on my Mac still & only turn off the SMS/RCS forwarding. I have tried signing out and signing back in to my Mac's iMessages. I do not have the option to toggle text message forwading on my iPhone settings either, so I don't know how this happened and how to now switch it off.

Your Macbook can send imessage so you don't need to enable text forwarding, so turn it off.

Text message forwarding is set up on your iphone not on our mac.
