Trading in iPhone before receiving a new one

I suppose you can, but why would you want to do this? Apple sends a Trade-In box when you get your new phone and you have up to two weeks after getting your new phone to send in your trade. The value to this is you can set up your new phone from the phone you want to trade and make sure everything is working as expected on the new phone, then send your trade (prepared correctly to be traded per the following --> What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support). Once received, the trade value will then be applied to the newly purchased phone.

I'm just curious what benefit you think you might get from doing things out of order?

yes you will receive a voucher for Apple goods if it qualifies.

If you already ordered the new one without arranging the trade-in then the voucher will not be usable on that purchase.

If you ordered the new one with trade-in then you can send the old one in as soon as you get the return packaging.

I understand. But this is a user to user only forum and my guess is you'll get an Apple Gift Card for a trade as opposed to the credit to your credit card if you do things out of sequence. Again, just a guess on my part. Keep in mind the trade is tied to the purchase of the new phone and paperwork and a trade in box is provided after you get your new phone which links the trade to the new phone. Doing this out of sequence likely won't provide what you're looking for.

So you'd be better served if you ask Apple directly.

So two trade-in phones? This second one that you want to trade in early will not go to your credit card, it may achieve a voucher for future purchase, not this purchase. You could have traded the second phone in a month ago and applied the voucher to this purchase, but you’re too late.
