I phone 14 pro battery health go down 1% in every 2 days

I purchased my iPhone 14 Pro (256GB) on January 8, 2024. The phone is now about 1 year and 9 months old. After completing one year, the battery health was at 86%.

However, after updating to iOS 18 (version 26), the battery health started dropping continuously — around 1% every 2–3 days. As of October 29, 2025, the battery health has decreased to 81%, which means a 5% drop since the update.

I’m concerned about why the battery health is declining so quickly and whether this issue will continue in the future.

Over multiple months, the battery in the iPhone 14 will decline.....on average....at about 1% a month. Some months, it might decline 2% and some months it will not decline at all. The battery is a chemical device so the decline is not linear. In addition, the battery often starts to decline more rapidly as the Max Cap reaches the lower 80% range.

Your phone is about 21 months old, so the Battery Health / Maximum Capacity should be at about 79% at this time.

If your battery is at 81%, you have done very well......but......Apple advises to replace the battery when the Max Cap drops under 80%. So, you might have another month or two before you need to have the battery replaced at the Genius Bar or an authorized Apple service shop.

You can find a list of authorized shops in your area using this link:

The iPhone 14 Pro was discontinued by Apple and no longer being sold September 12, 2023.

  • Where did you purchase it?
  • Was it a refurbished device?

With the phone first released in September 2022, it certainly may have had the battery replaced by a non-genuine part if it had been refurbished by anyone other than Apple. In any case, even with an original battery, it would be expected that the end of life for that battery would be very near if not overdue. Apple was not manufacturing that phone when you purchased it in January of 2024.

It's Time for a New Battery:

Your iPhone battery has degraded, and it is overheating, as a result. Apple recommends you get a new battery when the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. Unfortunately, there is no way to determine why, nor what, the Battery Health degraded.

Where to get a New Battery:

Getting a New iPhone Battery:

Contact Apple, and setup a Genius Bar Appointment or see an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) in your local area. Be wary as to where you get this item, ask you may get an error of an ungenuine battery. So, to avoid a continual message, it is best to have an Apple or an AASP replace the battery. So, where to get a new battery:

A. Apple Contact Info:

B. Contact an AASP:

  1. Go Here: Find Locations - Apple Authorized Reseller
  2. Click: Service & Support
  3. Enter: your location information
  4. See: if there is an AASP nearby
  5. Contact: an AASP that shows up, and find out more about the services that they offer to fix the battery
