Siri asks what app I want to use instead of just calling from the phone app

iPhone 17 Pro, iOS 26.0.1

When I ask Siri to call someone, which I used to do all the time, but now it responds with “would you like to use the phone app?” instead of just calling, even though the phone/cellular option is assigned as the default calling app. In the calling app alternatives it suggests, includes everything I can make calls with, but don’t need to because they’re not a part of the PHONE. It even asks if I want to call with Mega. The storage app..

All methods to fix this are from previous phone and software versions, that cannot be applied here.
