Common data items in Contacts

Is there a way I can link contacts so that certain elements are shared? For example, say a family lives together. I can group family members in a list, but if I want to store their addresses I have to enter and maintain them individually. This would be much simpler if this data could be shared.

If this cannot be done at present, could be added as a future enhancement?
