Asking for a friend here, after losing a device he has realised that he doesn't have the password or phone number (not entirely sure how) for an account which was created on that device. Is there any way to recover the account if he can prove he created and is the owner of the account without the password or email? Thanks.
Unless you are in China or India, Apple Accounts do not have attached phone numbers.
The most they may have is trusted phone numbers used to receive the 6 digit code in the event a trusted device is not available to receive it. Then the code can be sent via SMS or voice call to a phone number.
If a trusted device is available, then the trusted phone number is not required or used.
If he does not have a trusted device signed in to the same Apple Account, and cannot receive the 6 digit code, then he would need to start an account recovery process with Apple.
