Transfer mobile carrier service while out of the country

I purchased the new iPhone 17 Air while in California and transferred my AT&T California number to the new iPhone 17 Air. I now live in LA Paz BCS Mexico and want to purchase the iPhone 17 Pro and my question is, with a new unlocked iPhone 17 Pro purchased here in LA Paz BCS Mexico from Telcel, can I transfer my AT&T California mobile number to the new iPhone 17 Pro or do I need to be back in the United States to do so?

Depends on what you mean by "transfer the number".

If you want to port your US number onto Telcel in Mexico so they are now providing service and charging you for it, I don't believe that is possible

If you just ant to use your US AT&T number and service from the US on the new iPhone that is possible.
