I have iPhone 11Max pro and been having issues with my screens locking up and the only way to unlock the screen is to hit my side button and go back to black screen and put my password in … it was random but seems to be happening more frequently.

iPhone 11 Pro Max was discontinued more than 4 years ago, so your phone (and battery) are at least 4+ years old and as much as 5+. 3 Years was about it for most batteries.
No one is asking you about storage, why do you keep bringing this up?
The problem is your battery is at the end of its life, you need to replace it now. It should have been replaced at 80%. Low battery health can cause all sorts of problems.
Replace it at an Apple store or authorized repair shop and you will be a happy camper.
Do not just replace it "somewhere". Only Apple or an authorized repair center will replace it with a genuine Apple battery, third party batteries do not meet Apple specifications and will cause you even bigger problems.

This could be indicative of a failing battery.
Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. To check your battery health, go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health.

I never replaced the battery and I managed to locate a message that says time to change my battery and capacity is at 78%.
Storage shouldnt matter much but i get where you’re coming from. I would just say get the battery replaced somewhere.
I never replaced my battery and I still have a lot of storage left… The last update started all my problems.
Thank you for all your help and Im off to get a battery. I wish Apple who give you a message telling us to replace the battery because I would never have looked or thought this could be the issue.
I have lots of storage left and I know this because Apple support helped me a couple of weeks ago and they check this …. However I wasn’t having screen locking issues at that time but having issues with live transcribe.
No one asked about storage, please answer the question about battery health.
