Need to reset my Mac

Okay so my step dad gave me a MacBook Pro M1 chip, With his iCloud on it , he then passed away. Since then , we have moved so we don’t have a receipt or the box , I’ve tried resetting and it sends me to Activation lock , asking for the iCloud and password, which I don’t know , is there anything I can do to get into the laptop ?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 18
