My AirPods A3047 and replacement A3048 considered as different generations

My airpods say that they are model A3047, and when I decided to buy a replacement for the left side (which i assume is A3048), it won't let me connect them because its says that they are different generations. I did all my research to ensure I was buying the correct one and that my model A3047 is second generation but now it's saying it's first generation? Please send some help
