WhatsApp Business is extremely laggy on iPhone 12 — scrolling freezes and messages delayed

I’m using an iPhone 12 for WhatsApp Business and the app has been extremely slow. Scrolling through chat conversations lags badly, and messages take a very long time to send — sometimes up to 40 minutes before they actually go out. I’ve tried reinstalling the app, updating iOS, clearing storage, restarting the phone, and every other possible solution I could find, but nothing works. This is really frustrating because my workplace relies heavily on WhatsApp Business for daily operations, and we manage around 20 WhatsApp Business accounts, so this lag and delay issue is affecting our customer communication seriously. My colleagues using newer iPhones don’t seem to have this issue, so it appears to be specific to the iPhone 12. Kindly let me know if there is any fix or workaround for this. Thank you.

iPhone 12 was released in September 2020, 5 years ago. Have you had the battery replaced in your phone since you got it? Batteries which are failing can certainly cause all sorts of issues. Open Settings > Battery > Battery Health - if it is near, at or below 80%, the battery needs to be replaced at your closest Apple Store Genius Bar.

WhatsApp is an App from Meta. They are some of the buggiest apps out there. In the Authors post, I suggested they check their battery health because they commented people they know with newer phones weren't having such an issue. WhatsApp on average has to update their apps a couple times a week, sometimes more, because as they fix one thing, they break something else. Apple doesn't own WhatsApp, so if this is happening to you and you have a newer phone with a healthy battery, you need to let WhatsApp know about your issues. Anyone who is having this issue needs to contact WhatsApp. Apple can't fix anything wrong with WhatsApp at all.

Managing WhatsApp an Lagging:

iPhones aren't intended for multitasking, and being such an old device, you might want to consider upgrade to a newer iPhone. Nonetheless, I suggest you manage this on a Desktop, as it would be more user-friendly doing so.
