What cord works to connect iPhone to CarPlay device?

I recently had an Apple CarPlay device added to my vehicle. However, I haven't had much success with the cords that I tried to connect my phone to the device with. I ordered a few from Amazon, because I wanted a black cord to be less obtrusive on the dashboard. Two different ones didn't work at all or worked so sporadically that it was a joke. The one I have now was working fine but now is giving me an error message about overcurrent caution on USB. Can someone recommend a reliable cord?

An original from Apple would probably be number 1. But not all cars have USB-C input. I use Wireless CarPlay today, but in the past I used a wired connection, and I was quite happy with a USB-A to Lightning cable from Belkin. I think their USB-A to USB-C cables are just as good.
