Icloud+ Mail "Reply-To" address

I am attempting to setup my iCloud external mail, of which is through a hosted mail server (name cheap) and using the Icloud+ mail service for my domain and emails. I am attempting to setup my mail to have a "Reply-To" address of which I own be listed in my emails and I wanted to know if this is something that Apple accounts for, like Gmail does in their mail service. I have noticed that I cannot do this through Icloud+ and wanted to understand better the mail app and see if I could get a Reply-To address setup.

iCloud Mail (including iCloud+ custom domain mail) does not support a custom Reply-To address.

And unlike Gmail, Apple does not allow you to set a “send as” or “reply-to” identity that differs from your iCloud+ mailbox.

This limitation applies across:

  • iCloud Mail on the web
  • Mail app on macOS
  • Mail on iPhone/iPad
  • All iCloud+ custom domain mailboxes

Even when using an external/hosted domain (Namecheap, Cloudflare, GoDaddy, etc.) through iCloud Mail hosting, Apple enforces that:

When you send mail:

  • From: must match the iCloud+ mailbox
  • Reply-To: cannot be customized (auto-matches the From address)

This is by design and not configurable.
