MacBook Air: Internet Accounts asks for Exchange password

I am signing into my MacBook Air and it continues to ask me to enter my Exchange Password in Internet Accounts. Where do I find Internet Accounts?

How do I enter the password for mail on mac? I deleted one of my email accounts a while back but since then get constant reminders that it is not connecting. I have tried to recreate the password but can not enter it in Internet Accounts of System Preferences. My Mac is on OS version 10.11.6 and is not getting updated. I have fallen foul of Google’s OAuth 2,0 policy. Below is the error message I get when trying to enter the password for mail on mac “Authorisation Error Error 400: invalid_request You can't sign in to this app because it doesn't comply with Google's OAuth 2.0 policy for keeping apps secure. You can let the app developer know that this app doesn't comply with one or more Google validation rules.” What is the fix that will restore my email account and password? I have the entire mac backed up for the past four years. Which bit do i restore and can I find out the password I was using before the pandemic?

constantly asked for mail passwords on MacBook Air About 5 days ago I started getting constant pop ups asking for mail passwords. I am on Sonoma 14. I have deleted both accounts and re-entered them several times. Tried restarting Mac both before and after doing this. There were no issues before this. The passwords are correct. It seems to accept the passwords, then 10 minutes later I get another pop up. I do not get this problem on iPhone or iPad. It is driving me demented. My passwords for mail are not saved on the password vault on the system. There is no option for Outlook or Hotmail on the add new account list- should I be entering them on the Microsoft Option? Would that make any difference? Mail gets through but I am still asked for password. Can anyone help?

If this is a personal email (like Hotmail or Outlook.com) rather than a work email, choose "Outlook.com" instead of "Microsoft Exchange" when you add it back.
