iPhone 15 loses 3-5% battery when restarted

I bought a new iphone 15 a month ago.but when i turn off my phone and start it again my phone lose 3-5% battery it is something common ?it is running on ios 26.1

The first question that comes to mind is why are you restarting it? Mine runs for months at a time without a restart, except for iOS updates.


However, shutting down an iPhone (or any computing device) is energy expensive, because every running app and OS service must be first shut down in an orderly way, before the device shuts down completely. This is why you must wait about a minute before restarting it; the shutdown process can take that long.


Then starting up is also energy expensive, because every service and app shut down must now be restarted. So a small drop in battery state of charge is not unreasonable.
