How to permanently delete messages from icloud

i have taken the following steps to delete the 31000+ messages stored in the cloud

  • disabled Messages sync, Settings → "Apple ID" → "iCloud" → "Messages" → toggled off "Sync this iPhone".
  • deleted all recently deleted on iPhone and iPad
  • deleted data, Settings → "Apple ID" → "iCloud" → "Messages" → "Manage Storage" → "Disable & Delete".
  • i then enabled message sync - to resync the last thirty days messages.
  • all 31000+ return to iPhone and iPad

I want to reduce my storage down from 200 GB.

To permanently delete them:

  1. Turn OFF Messages in iCloud on ALL devices
  2. Delete all messages on every device
  3. Empty Recently Deleted on every device
  4. Delete iCloud’s Messages storage (“Disable & Delete”)
  5. Remove old iCloud backups
  6. Confirm Messages storage shows “0 KB”
  7. Re-enable Messages sync ONLY after iCloud is empty

✔ This is the ONLY method that works permanently
