Text Message Forwarding Missing After IOS26 update Ever since updating iphone to IOS26 my text messages are not syncing to my macbook. I can no longer find text message forwarding under the messages setting. I have tried all the recommended fixes like checking to see if both devices are signed in under the same sign on. Toggling text message on and off. Resyncing messages with icloud. The only thing I haven't done was check text message forwarding on my iphone because it's no longer there.

Text Message Forwarding not showing up in settings Important in cases when the Text Message Forwarding is not showing up in your iPhones settings: in iPhones' Settings/ Messages/ Send & Receive make sure you have your actual phone number selected under " You can receive iMessages to and reply to and reply from", not an email or iCloud account address. In addition you may need to restart your devices and wait few minutes for this settings to take effect and be able to use the text messages forwarding features between your Apple devices.

The December 2025 iOS 26 update removed Text Message Forwarding for many users because Apple is migrating to a new unified message syncing system.

When this happens, your iPad stops receiving messages because the device-to-device link breaks.

Fixing iMessage activation, enabling iCloud Messages on both devices, and rebooting restores sync even without the old forwarding toggle.

In some cases, the forwarding menu returns; in others, Apple’s new system handles syncing automatically.
