Apple Maps selects slower routes instead of the fastest

On iOS 26.1 - Apple Maps refuses to select the fastest route home. I often shop at a grocery store about 15 miles from my home. I can take a major divided 4 lane highway (it’s not a toll road) or a series of backroads home. The highway route takes about 20 minutes to get home. The backroads route will take 30-35 minutes. Apple Maps always selects the back roads route to home.
