Cannot copy/paste filename in Save dialog

Since my Tahoe upgrade 2+ months ago whenever I download a file (from Safari, Mozilla, Chrome) I can't copy or paste in the filename edit field.

Whenever I attempt to copy part of a filename in the Save dialog edit field I hear a 'blorp' sound and nothing happens. It's the same thing when I try to paste text into the Save dialog filename field.

The only workaround so far...

1) Manually select the existing filename and create a new name

2) For the next file, set the Save dialog file list to "Date Modified"

3) Click on the recent filename

4) The click on the end of the filename and add a number or or additional description terms

That's a lot of mousing and clicking!

I'm hoping there's an easy setting I've missed somewhere, but I've searched extensively this issue seems to be missing from Apple Support and even Google.

Update: I believe I've solved the issue by going to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard and then toggling "Full Keyboard Access" - cmd+v now works in a save dialog box

Last update I'll waste my time with: If you turn on Full Keyboard Access it will absolutely destroy your current workflows if you use any quick keys to navigate. You can put it in "Pass through mode" however with control+option+command+P which will still allow you to use cmd+V, etc. to solve the initial problem of brought up in this thread.

What an absolute piece of trash Tahoe is....

I've come across a similar issue in Firefox on MacOS.

It happens if Firefox isn't in focus (i.e. some other application, maybe Finder is the front–most application) and you context–click on an image in Firefox and select "Save image as…". This doesn't bring Firefox to the front, the save dialogue will open behind the focused application's window.

Even if the save dialog is brought to the front, you can't paste in a file name, though you can type in or select a file in the dialog to copy the name to the filename field. :-)

Very happy to see your reply - Thank You.

Oh, how I wish this setting was in there!

After it didn't show up in the Advanced dialog I ran separate settings searches for "Block" "Paste" "Sensitive" and "Fields" - nothing like what you described shows up. Sigh.

As a former Apple developer, things certainly have changed out there. I don't want to believe this but perhaps Apple removed this setting with a "Background Security Update" without fixing the usability issue?

So weird that I'm the only one trying to fix this.

Tried googling your feature name in search of more info. No joy there either, but I'll keep paging deeper.

Restarting again to see if somehow that fixes it anyway - I guess I'm in the Apple version of a Cargo Cult now.

lowellmower Great find! Just adjusted my settings...

Plus, plus, plus - Now I can cut/paste in filenames and new folder names

Side effects - Oh no, disables spacebar to quickly preview a file, also arrow keys to open/closed nested folders. Makes the inbox in Mail crazy difficult to navigate. Keeps changing web page position when I switch back to an open tab.

Can anyone else confirm this?
