Siri Volume low and/or defaults to media volume.

Siri volume keeps resetting since downloading 26.2. I recently went from iOS18 to 26.2. Since then, Siri's volume seemed low when using my headphones. For reference, I use one Airpod when I walk. That allows me to listen to low level music while also listening for alerts from work. However, I noticed recently that Siri's volume was too low. I learned how to change Siri's volume by either asking her to change it, or to use the side buttons when she is speaking, but that is only temporary. As soon as I use the buttons to raise or lower the media volume, her voice resets to the media volume as well. I also tried the Adaptive voice setting, but that doesn't work either.

I dont know if her voice was just louder in previous iOS versions, or if it held the volume I had it set at, but currently it is way way too soft and I am missing notifications.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is actually a huge problem for me! Thanks you!

How Siri Volume Works on iOS

  • No separate slider in Settings: Unlike ringtones or alarms, Siri doesn’t have its own independent volume control menu.
  • Adjust while Siri speaks: You must press the hardware volume buttons (or headphone controls) while Siri is responding to change Siri’s voice level.
  • Linked to system volume: Siri’s voice output is controlled by the same audio channel as media playback. If you adjust volume outside of Siri’s response, you’re changing media/system volume, not Siri’s.
  • Accessibility options: Starting with iOS 17, you can change Siri’s speaking rate (speed) under Settings > Accessibility > Siri, but this does not affect volume

hi. You can adjust the Siri volume by asking Siri what is your Siri volume and it will give a percentage and then you can just say speak louder and it will raise it by 10% and that is independent from the media volume. Sometimes they will say set media volume to 50% so you just have to say it again Siri what is your volume when it gives you the response then you just say speak softer or give it a percentage. That is what I do. That’s the only way I’ve been able to find how to adjust to save volume and keep a media volume at different levels. Hope that makes sense.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
