Use action button for Double-click to pay with Apple Pay

I use AssistiveTouch feature for Apple Pay & Card transactions on my iPhone 17 Pro Max. I find it easier than the using the double-click feature. One thing to note is, If you are not in an active transaction you will NOT see the Apple Pay button in AssistiveTouch. AssistiveTouch will use FaceID to authenticate you.

Excellent post. However, the last time I checked, setting up Assistive Touch requires a double click to initially setup up Assistive Touch. I know, not the most friendly process if you have issues double clicking. I’ll explore this again and see if Apple has changed the setup process. Thanks for posting and bringing this issue to the forefront again.

Your welcome. I first started using Assistive Touch on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and don't remember the setup process. I does take a little getting use to and some people don't like the Assistive Touch button you see on the screen, but I've gotten use to it and have kept it on my iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Sorry, you cannot.

There is no option to set the Action button to summon Apple Pay.

You can offer Apple Feedback is you would like to see that feature.

With that said I hold my iPhone with the left hand, and can summon Apple Pay with my Index or Middle Finger just fine.
