IOS 26.2 and Apple car play - Bluetooth

My apple car play is unable to sync contacts over bluetooth on Iphone 17pro running on iOS 26.2. What could be the reason?

CarPlay uses WiFi. And it doesn't actually 'sync' anything to the head unit. The head unit acts as a display for the phone.

Do you actually have CarPlay or are you just talking about connecting to the head unit with bluetooth?
