Where did you see this?
If it was while browsing the internet, then it is just an ad to scare you into subscribing to some service or downloading some software that you do not need. Navigating off of the page will remove the ad. A screenshot may be helpful to visualize what you are seeing.
Open Settings ➢ Notifications, then scroll ↓ down and review the settings under Government Alerts.
Good to go? 👌🏼

Swipe left and Clear makes it go away, but it always reappears after a phone reset. Very annoying

how to remove critical warning?
Did you read the information that has been provided in this post?
If you have increased the Text Size on your phone, you may need to slide the notification to the left in order to see the Clear button or remove it after swiping down from the top on your Home Screen. If you already did try the steps provided in this post, including the Force Restart, then provide a screenshot of what you are seeing.

Please delete the critical update from yesterday.
Did you read past the first post, where it was advised to swipe the alert from right to left, then tap either Remove Clear, Delete or Remove, whichever appears? You likely could have avoided wasting your time to post when the solution has already been provided.
Basically just swipe and delete the message.
Hi, please swipe the alert from right to left. You must delete it yourself. We can’t do it for you. 😃😃
If the alert returns after being dismissed, it’s your cellular service provider. The alerts are sent by local and regional officials and federal agencies. The alerts are sent through your cellular service provider’s network.
The provider can reset various aspects regarding your device/account. The reset includes correcting the network error sending you repeated alerts after the threat has passed.
I’ve had this issue as well. I am aware to “clear” the message. The problem for me is after I shut off my iPhone and turn it back on, that same alert from a week ago comes back. Anyone from NYC would know about that flash flood crazy rain we had, that’s what the “Critical” alert was. Just annoying that it keeps on coming back after a restart on my phone. I usually don’t like to disable it to completely remove the feature all together but it just keeps coming back, and the alert is from 7/18/26. It’s just very annoying.
I had a similar (I wanna call it a “bug”) where a reminder I had kept coming after I deleted the entire thing, as in it did not exist anymore on my phone or other Apple devices. The only fix was to restore my iPhone from a previous a different date that I had it synced. That took a long time to process with all the stuff I had on my phone. I’m afraid with this alert I got from Apple, the only fix is to “restore”. It’s very annoying.
I don’t know why you would say it is most likely a scam. Mine was a flash flood warning that was 100% correct. It just wouldn’t go away the comment about sliding it to the left worked perfectly.
Have you tried swiping?
can't take a screenshot because it's on the login page that pops up when you turn on the page. This isn't a scam or ad. It doesn't ask me to buy anything or visit any website. It's an alert from the National Weather Service to drive carefully if you must drive and be wary of blinding snow and watch out for ice. We were expecting a late night snow storm. I just need to know how to get it the warning off of my login page. Haven't figured that out yet.

I have a iPhone 14 Pro running the latest OS26 and have the same message stuck on my lock screen.
I have done a forced restart and it's still there.
Like someone said this is from the NWS for a snow squall that was expected in our area a few days ago. It is NOT a scam.
I have turned off Critical Alerts.
I have restarted my iPhone a few times.
Any other ideas? Thank you!
It is unwise to assume that what worked for you, ebehr59 would work for everyone.
Please explain (in detail) how to "Delete the Critical threat alert" with step-by-step instructions.
I invite you to volunteer here answering questions and see just how solving problems really works. One size does not fit all.

I have critical alert notification on my phone which I have tried deleting. Nothing works, I’ve watched YouTube, googled it everything. Please assist?
Maybe take the time to read past the first post and you'll see solutions which work
I've tried numerous suggestions (swipe left, restart etc), deleted the weather app, turn off notifications in messages, all government notifications and it still comes back after you restart your phone. Is there a way to completely prevent it from coming back? Deleting even the weather channel app was unsuccessful. Thanks in advance and I have read the entire thread.
