It was ment for my son but of course his mom beat me to buying his apple gift for his birthday so now I have $250 just sitting here. Uhhh do I trade, or what.. have no clue what to do

There's not much you can do other than use it yourself. You cannot gift balance. You can ask Apple if they would be prepared to return the balance to its origin if nothing has been spent. There are posts (e.g., Accidentally added funds to Apple ID rath… - Apple Community ) claiming that if funds were transferred from Apple Cash or a bank account, Apple might grant a reversal request of the original transfer back to the originating account. I seem to remember somebody mentioning having this done with a gift card, but I am not sure. Apple mentions neither of these officially. This is not mentioned in Apple’s documentation (which, if anything, pretty firmly states the opposite about no “return” of funds), so even if Apple might do this on occasion, they are not so obligated.

If you wish to speak with Apple, click here ➔ Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you. This page has telephone numbers for contacting Apple for support and service ➔ Contact Apple Support - Apple Support Do not use the standard refund request service. You are asking for a special service and need to speak with a live representative.

If they won't, you will have to spend it for yourself. E.g., Subscribe to Apple Music on Android - Apple Support

You cannot actually easily buy something for somebody else with the balance. You cannot gift the balance itself. Anything purchased while signed into your account is linked to your Apple Account. The second person would not be able to update any app or re-download any media purchased with a different account. You could maybe be able to use the balance in part purchase of hardware, but I am guessing you would have to purchase the item entirely yourself and then make a private arrangement as to transfer of ownership of the device. In addition, signing in with your account on another person's device to purchase something for them might cause temporary issues with the other person being able to use their account for purchases and updating on their device. --> View and remove your devices that are associated with your Apple Account for purchases - Apple Support

‘When you try to associate a device that was previously associated, you might notice a message that says, “This device is associated with another Apple Account. You cannot associate this device with another Apple Account for [number] days.” You might need to wait up to 90 days to associate the device with a different Apple Account.’

If you have not spent any of the balance and a physical card was involved, have you actually tried doing as I suggested two days ago and call Apple to see if you get the balance transferred back to card itself? You could then try selling the card.

Yes to what you said earlier about gift cards in general. I personally never buy gift cards from any vendor because I then have funds locked up, but that's not the point in discussion here.

There are some Apple subscription services (Apple Music, Apple TV) that are available on Android.

Also, if you purchase music from the iTunes Store on a Mac or PC, that music does not have DRM, so you could play it on an Android device (assuming that Android supports the AAC format(. (Music videos, movies, and TV shows still have DRM and might not be useful on Android.)

Re: “Ima just ask everyone in my contact if they wanna trade $100 cash for $250 apple balance”

If you have valid gift cards that you have not redeemed yet, that might be one approach. However, if the gift card balance is now in an Apple Account, I do not believe that you could transfer it from your account, or your son’s account, to someone else’s account .

Re: “It is not at all unusual for gift cards to not be refundable. I know the various ones I have purchased from various companies have all said that.”

That’s what companies like about them. Once a gift giver buys one, the revenue is locked in. If the recipient is slow to use the balance, it effectively becomes an interest-free loan in the meantime.
