Stolen Device Protection: Can I restore old iPhone backup?

My Iphone 15 pro won't turn on due to water damage, it lasted 24 hrs.

Before water damage I had Stolen Device Protection turned on.

When water damage occured I tried backing phone up with Itunes but it kept asking me for Face ID, which wasn't working due to water damage.

Sim card kept going unrecognised so I am taking it that's why it didn't know I was at home and wasn't allowing passcode instead of Face ID.

So I couldn't back it up.

I have a backup of my phone from beginning of November on my windows PC, from using Itunes.

Question is... if I buy a new Iphone will I be able to use the backup from Nov or will there be something to do with stolen device protection preventing me using it?

iPhone 15 Pro, iOS 26

iTunes (or Finder) backups are offline and tied to:

  • Your Apple ID
  • The backup file itself
  • (If enabled) The backup password for encrypted backups. Hopefully, if encrypted, you remember the password. This has nothing to do with the Stolen device protection of the device.
