Battery drain on iPhone 16 Pro Max after iOS 26.2 update

Battery drain issue on iPhone 16 Pro Max after iOS 26.2 update

Hello,

I am experiencing excessive battery drain on my iPhone 16 Pro Max after disconnecting from the charger in the morning. The issue happens even when the phone is not actively used. Please see the details below:

• Model: iPhone 16 Pro Max

• iOS version: 26.2

• Battery Health: 97%

• Charging method: Lightning cable (not MagSafe)

• Background refresh, Always-On Display, StandBy mode, 120Hz, and all similar features are turned off

Despite all recommended battery-saving settings being disabled, the battery percentage still drops significantly soon after unplugging.

This appears to be a system/process wake loop rather than normal battery discharge.

I have also tested in Airplane Mode and with SIM removed, and the battery drain persists. Please investigate and advise on next steps or provide a fix.

Thank you.

According to Apple:
If you notice that your battery life has decreased after updating your device, wait a few days and then check again.

Even though you can use your device immediately after an update, certain tasks related to the update continue in the background and might affect battery life and thermal performance. While they're ongoing, you might see the Insight Ongoing iOS Update in Settings ➢ Battery.

Good luck! 👋🏼😉

The measure of battery health deterioration/drainage is subjective and can vary depending on individual usage patterns. There is no universal standard to determine whether the battery health deterioration/drainage is normal or abnormal because it heavily relies on how the battery is used and maintained.

It's not always the iOS update's fault!  Many things can cause phone problems.  If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

Remember, the right question often leads to the solution!

Was/Is your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

iOS updates aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. The majority of the issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

Kindly consider checking your settings and addressing any device issues before attributing the issue to external factors. This could be a pure coincidence that the iOS update affected the iPhone functions.

Before initiating a standard iOS update, it's advisable to create a backup. Have you completed this step? If yes, proceed with the restoration from the backup.
