How to change Apple Account password without losing Find My iPhone security?

Trying to change apple password to a more secure password. Options seem to require me submit a request that may take many days and turn off find phone security options. If I am missing something in my interpretation of these instructions. I need some help. I bought and paid the Apple care for three different iphones. I have a hand me down 14. I am not versed in the use of an iPhone phone.

I am on call to some people for assistance and would rather not lose that ability to be available. If I am to lose the ability to be contacted I can get a land line and continue with reduced security until I go through the process. I do not mind turning off security items on my particular and relying on a land line but would like to get my instructions in the form of computer paths. I do all of my online work with a desktop.

Thanks

It might help if we had some familiar terminologies.

To me it sounds like you may be referring to this feature: About Stolen Device Protection for iPhone - Apple Support

If that is the problem, you simply need to either disable the feature or wait the required time.

When you mention a wait of several days it sounds like you may have started this process: How to use account recovery when you can’t reset your Apple Account password - Apple Support

Unless you have forgotten your password and have no trusted devices or trusted numbers, that's when you need to do account recovery. For regularly changing your password you do not need to do that.

Perhaps when you mention a delay you are referring to what was described in this post: “The delay is to allow a legitimate password reset while making an attempt by another to take over an Apple Account more difficult. If a platform allows an instantaneous password reset, that would be a spectacularly useful mechanism for an account takeover as the legitimate user can be immediately and irrevocably locked out” What causes delays in Apple Account passw… - Apple Community

Actually I cannot. I tried and was told that my lost phone security was selected and I would need to turn that off. Then I was instructed to log in on my iPhone. I went to the community support and prepared the submission listed above and when I submitted it I was instructed that the page had timed out and I requested to wait. Nothing. I was never advise that it had submitted until you kindly responded. It will be easier to just leave my apple account password at a reduced security rating. Something is amiss but apparently these problems and solutions are intended for phone experienced users. I am not. I am an experienced computer user and an iPhone is basically a computer. Unless you pay for support you are required to ask other user and often get many FAQ lists that have no connection to your requests. I will pursue purchasing support so that I can make my apple account more secure and do what apple intends the forums to do, generate money for apple. It is the American way. Thanks for you time and quick response.

The forum software does not normally send you e-mail telling you that you havve submitted a post.

If the forum server(s) are having problems, you might be told to wait and to try accessing the forums later. Some of the time when that happens, the forum might have accepted and posted your submission, and in other cases, your submission might be lost. That isn't Apple doing anything deliberately – it's just the forum being flaky.
